Our History

                As a child, P.S Mahendran had a dream of starting his own tea factory in the hilly region of the Nilgiris in southern India. Mahendran would often accompany his father, who was a Tea Specialist at the Somerset Tea factory in Sri Lanka, on his trips to the factory. This was Mahendran's first exposure to the industry and it sparked a lifelong passion for tea-making within him.

                In 1993, Mahendran made his vision a reality by founding Arthibala Tea Factory in the Nilgiris. It was a difficult journey, but he was determined to make it happen. He worked tirelessly to harvest and process high-quality tea leaves, using his father's expertise to ensure the best produce. The factory quickly gained a reputation for crafting delicious tea. As the years passed, Arthibala Tea Factory grew and flourished under Mahendran's leadership. 

                Today, Mahendran’s legacy lives on through his wife, M Jayanthi, who stepped up to take over the running of the factory. She has been steadfastly carrying out his vision and mission of manufacturing quality teas ever since. With unwavering resolve and prowess, she has proven to be a pioneer in the tea industry sector. The factory is now known for its high-quality tea and its commitment to sustainability. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of P.S Mahendran and his family.

                Located in the midst of rolling hills and lush green tea estates, Arthibala Tea makes an impact not only in the tea industry but also in the local community. The factory sources tea leaves from the small leaf growers in Kaircombai, a cozy hamlet nestled in the blue mountains. We made it our mission to support the local community by involving them in our growth story.

                30 years later, we introduce Forest Brews to further our passion for building a sustainable and thriving tea industry. This new initiative is an extension of Arthibala Tea and will allow the tea lovers across the country to taste our unique blends.
